2 types of interior door constructions: solid-core (soundproof) or hollow-core

All Portatec interior door models – with the exception of the REVOLUTION and PASSION collections which always require solid-core doors – can be designed as solid-core or hollow-core. Solid-core doors are remarkable for their exceptional sturdiness and sound reduction quality, providing greater privacy to home dwellers. Definitely the choice for anyone seeking a superior level of indoor comfort.

Unlimited paint choices

All Portatec interior door systems (door, door frame, and casings (optional)) are professionally painted using factory-applied paint and the colour choices are unlimited! Portatec offers you, indeed, the possibility of choosing your own door colour. You simply have to provide us with the name and colour code of the paint fabricant (Sico or Benjamin Moore Canada colour charts). Portatec also offers nonetheless a choice of 20 standard colours. The choice always remains yours and the price also always remains the same, whether your opt for a customized colour or one of our 20 standard colours. (Note that doors are always painted the same colour on both sides. If you wish to have your door jambs painted another colour, we can accommodate this request for a small extra fee.)

Portatec applies an ultra-resistant industrial paint (water-borne urethane-acrylic coating) featuring a glossy velvet finish. This eco-responsible paint is a high-performance coating system offering several benefits, including:

• Higher resistance to scratches and wear

• Excellent adhesion

• More environmentally-friendly: contains low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds)

6 wood veneer species

Customers may choose among the following 6 wood veneer species for our door models comprising wood veneer inserts (REVOLUTION Collection) and our flush veneer clad door models (PASSION Collection): birch, oak, maple, walnut, bamboo, and ebony. Fourteen stains colours (in addition to clear varnish) are available for birch, oak, and maple veneers, while a clear varnish is automatically applied on all walnut, bamboo, and ebony veneers.

Superior sturdiness and easy installation

All Portatec interior door systems feature rabbeted jambs which are much sturdier, stronger, and durable than stopped jambs. Our rabbeted jambs are available in two sizes, 3 ½ in. or 4 ½ in., to match either 2×3 or 2×4 interior wall studs. Our frames are designed with a small lip to facilitate the installation of the finishing door casings, which are required to fully complete the installation. Our frames are not designed to be installed without finishing door casings (drywall return mouldings).

All solid-core and hollow-core doors automatically come with four hinges, offered in 3 elegant colours (brushed chrome, satin nickel, and black).

Contrary to most products commonly offered in big-box stores, all Portatec interior doors are factory pre-machined, meaning they all come with a pre-drilled door hole. All frames are also factory pre-machined and, as such, are ready for strike plate installation. There is no need to drill or machine anything yourself on your doors – they all arrive installation-ready!
Finally, Portatec provides an installation kit (comprising 6 brackets and several screws) with every interior door system for a quick and easy installation, estimated at 30 minutes for renovation non-experts. An installation guide is also provided.

Production Time and Shipping Information

Production time varies between 20 and 30 business days for factory pick-ups. An additional 5 business days is required for home shipping (additional shipping charges).

If a door handle option is selected, note that all factory pick-up orders automatically include the free installation of the door handle(s) (no additional charge). However, for home shipping orders, door handles are shipped non-installed, boxed separately.
